Statistics: Russia’s industrial output rises 1.1% on year in Jan
MOSCOW, Feb 17 (PRIME) -- Russia’s industrial output grew 1.1% on the year but fell 17.3% on the month in January after rising 1.7% on the year in December 2019, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a report on Monday.
Processing industries showed an increase of 3.9% on the year in the month, while the mineral production sector showed a 0.4% contraction. Power, gas, and steam distribution firms showed a 4.7% decrease of output due to an unusually high air temperature in the month. Distribution and disposal of water and waste companies showed a 1% production increase.
The January report was also the service’s first industrial output report calculated using the year of 2018 as the basis year instead of 2010. The service also recalculated its earlier data due to the change, and upgraded the industrial output growth estimate for 2018 to 3.5% from 2.9%, while in 2019 the estimate was downgraded to 2.3% from 2.4%.
